Easy test: plug your phone into your car with a cable. If your phone's apps appear on the car screen, your car already has CarPlay or Android Auto, and the DashLink will make it wireless. If nothing appears, this adapter isn't for your car.

Will it work in my car?
Does my car need CarPlay or Android Auto already?
Yes, and this is the most important thing to check. The DashLink doesn't add CarPlay or Android Auto to a car. It takes the CarPlay or Android Auto your car already has with a cable and makes it wireless. If your car has never shown your phone's apps on its screen, the DashLink won't work in it.
How do I check in 10 seconds?
Plug your phone into your car's USB port with your normal cable. If you see your phone's apps on the car screen (maps, music, calls), you're good to go. If the car only charges your phone or plays music through Bluetooth, it doesn't have CarPlay or Android Auto, so this adapter isn't the right fit.
My car already has wireless CarPlay. Do I need it?
No. If your phone already connects to the car screen without a cable, you already have what the DashLink does.
Are there cars it doesn't work with?
It works with most cars that have wired CarPlay or Android Auto from the factory. It doesn't work with BMW or Tesla, or with aftermarket screens that don't support CarPlay or Android Auto. Not sure? Send us your car's make, model and year before you order and we'll help.
About the DashLink
Which phones does it work with?
iPhone 6 or newer (iOS 10 or later) for CarPlay, and Android phones with Android 11 or later for Android Auto. Huawei phones are not supported.
How do I set it up?
Plug it into the USB port you normally use for your phone, turn on Bluetooth on your phone, choose the DashLink from the list and accept the requests. You only do this once. After that it connects by itself every time you start the car.
My car only has a USB-C port. Will it fit?
The DashLink has a standard USB-A plug. If your car only has USB-C ports, use a small USB-C to USB-A adapter (not included).
Does it drain my phone's battery?
Wireless connection uses a bit more battery than a cable, as your phone isn't charging. On long trips, pop your phone on a car charger or wireless charging pad.
Does it need a battery or charging?
No. It's powered by your car's USB port, so there's nothing to charge.
